Throughout 2013, The Melody Arons Center examined the use of pitch in both music and language, completing the first phase of the study in February 2014. This research question was selected because of the difficulty of many preschool children in developing prosody (the musical ups and downs) of language. MAC thanks the many volunteers who participated, and looks forward to additional work in this area. It continues to examine the results of its ABC longitudinal study that analyzes neural connections between music and language across 2 trials of 5 children each. The fourth case study will be presented in June of 2015.
