The Melody Arons Center is said to be the only early intervention and preschool center in the Northeast that builds programs and delivers services based upon an understanding of brain functioning and neuroscience. It recognizes that this approach is theoretical. The more we know about the brain, the more we know what we don’t know. However, MAC approaches each child from the standpoint that whatever the problems are, we must understand as many of the neurological pieces as possible through comprehensive testing and play-based assessment. Based upon analysis of the data, individualized plans are then developed for each child through research and the involvement of outside experts in the areas of disability. MAC knows that how children make sense of the outside world is unique to each one, this process involving genetics, environment, and the human developmental process. It accepts neuroscience interns from colleges and universities based upon their aptitude, knowledge base, and ability to work directly with children under supervision.
